JAMES JOHNSON
I grew up in Grand Rapids and was educated at Kendall College and the Art Institute of Chicago. My career as a commercial illustrator began in 1971 and spanned the 20th Century. At the turn, I retired and began painting on location and giving watercolor workshops, which keeps me busy to this day. In 2021 I was surprised and delighted when the Michigan Water Color Society inducted me as a signatory member. I've had along association with The Grand Valley Artist's in Grand Rapids and I'm presently theGVA gallery director and facilitator of the Plein Air Group.
